Ceiling in a home with existing light fittings
Brighter, and how you want it

Get Every Room as Bright as You Want It

Most homes have a room or two that are darker than they should be. Old downlights that have dimmed over the years, not enough of them through the middle of the room, or a kitchen bench where you end up working in your own shadow.

Replacing tired fittings with LED and adding light where there simply is not enough makes a room feel completely different. You also get to choose how bright and how warm it is, rather than living with whatever came with the house.

LEDs run at a fraction of what the old halogens cost, so doing a whole house of them shows up on the power bill as well as in how the place looks.

Planned, not just swapped

Light That Falls Where You Need It

We replace old halogens with LED and, where the existing layout was never right, work out a better one before we start cutting.

That means spacing the fittings for even coverage, keeping them off the walls where they would scallop, and matching colour temperature through the whole space so it reads as one room.

If you want dimming we will match the dimmer to the driver, which is the difference between smooth dimming and a light that flickers and buzzes at half brightness.

Where fittings are simply being swapped like for like the job is quick. Changing the layout means new holes and patching, and we will tell you exactly what you will be left with beforehand.

Asked Questions

LED Downlight Questions

  • It depends on the number, whether the existing wiring and transformers can stay, and how much ceiling access there is. A like-for-like swap is quick. Changing the layout costs more because of the extra holes and patching.

  • Yes, but it means new holes and cabling above the ceiling, and you will be left with the old holes to patch. We talk that through before we start so there are no surprises.

  • Fewer than most people put in, spaced better. It depends on ceiling height, room size and the beam angle of the fitting. We will suggest a layout rather than filling the ceiling.

  • Warm white suits bedrooms and living areas, neutral suits kitchens and bathrooms. The important thing is being consistent within a space, and we will match it through the whole area.

  • Yes, if the dimmer is matched to the driver. Mismatched combinations flicker and buzz. Tell us you want dimming and we will specify accordingly.
