The Bathroom Fan That Does Nothing
Mould on the bathroom ceiling is almost never a cleaning problem. It is a ventilation problem, and it keeps coming back because the moisture has nowhere to go.
The two usual causes are a fan that is undersized for the room, or one that discharges straight into the roof cavity instead of outside. The second is worse, because it just moves the damp somewhere you cannot see it until the ceiling stains.
The third is human. A fan switched with the light runs for the two minutes you are in there and stops long before the room has cleared.
A Fan That Actually Clears the Room
We size the fan to the room rather than fitting whatever is on the shelf, and duct it to discharge outside the building.
A run-on timer is the other half of it. The fan keeps running for a set period after you leave, which is when most of the moisture actually gets removed.
Where you are replacing an existing unit we will check where the old one was venting, because a surprising number are simply blowing into the roof space.
Combination units with heating and light are common in bathrooms, and we can install those on suitable switching too.
